Catherine has been making clay sculpture since completing her degree at Camberwell College in 1998. Her sculpture has been mainly figurative, and focused on the female form; they often have exaggerating proportions, large feet and elongated legs blending up into smaller torsos. Searching , seeking and calling have been common themes in her work , often figures have binoculars and “the journey” the human need, to keep searching or questioning continues to fascinate her. Her figures which vary in size, are all made out of crank clay, which she fires and glazes up to stoneware.
