Peter Fifield

Peter was trained in Graphic Design at Liverpool and the Royal College of Art, London.
His stylised, digital work is partly observed and partly imagined - often with an inferred narrative. Architecture, interiors, townscape and landscape are all sources of inspiration.
After creating a rough composition using sketches and occasionally photographic reference, Peter draws the image in Adobe Illustrator, working on an Apple Mac. The style and appearance of the work deliberately borrows from the more traditional methods of silk screen and linocut, whilst retaining the contemporary feel which is inherent in this modern medium. The pictures can take as long to complete as traditional methods might, as the digital medium allows him to continually alter the composition, colour and detail until the piece is finished.
The final image is printed out on a large format, fine art inkjet printer, onto Hahnemühle German Etching - a premium acid-free paper, using archival quality inks which are light-fast for an absolute minimum of 100 years. This type of print, often referred to as a Giclée, gives exceptionally vivid colour and detail, which is unsurpassed by any other reprographic process. It is now widely favoured by many photographers and artists for the finest quality reproductions of their original work.
As limited editions, the original digital ﬁle is deleted once the ﬁnal print has been produced. In one sense all the prints are originals, as prior to this the image is only viewable on a computer screen.
