Born 1958, Kent. BA Illustration: Camberwell School of Arts & Craft 1980 - 1983, learning wood from Yvonne Skargon. Worked as an illustrator from 1983, mainly in ink and watercolour for children's picture books, for topographical books and for the giftware industry, decorating hundreds of products, including work for Royal Worcester from 1990 to 2000. Major picture books include The Great Round the World Balloon Race (1990) and in 2003, work on a pop-up book version of the Nutcracker (both Macmillan.) The Folio Society commissioned engravings for The Lives of the Later Caesars (2005) and Flora Robson's Lark Rise to Candleford (2009) I explore my own ideas through engraving, enjoying decorative subjects, landscape, seascape and architecture. Influenced by 20th century engravers, medieval manuscripts, Indian miniatures, textiles and the natural landscape.
