I started my training at the Sheffield College of Art. Then having won a scholarship from Punch magazine I moved on to the Royal College of Art, London, studying illustration under Edward Bawden and John Nash. Bawden has had a long lasting influence on my work, which is often based on half-recollected memories of childhood, with undercurrents of humour and satire, in a quirky blend of reality and fantasy. Living on the south coast I'm attracted by the richness of seaside imagery.
