Born in 1964, Ansy Boothroyd now finds herself flourishing as a potter and sculptor in a relatively new phase of her richly varied life.
Having studied modern languages at Trinity College, Cambridge, she went on to do a postgraduate diploma in singing at the Royal College of Music. She then took up a career as a singer, performing music ranging from Hildegard of Bingen to George Gershwin, as a soloist and in ensembles all around the world.
In 1996, Ansy began a City and Guilds pottery course through Lewisham's Adult Education programme, and within two years had begun to sell her work. She was also branching out to explore stone as an alternative medium, and through this has become increasingly interested in sculptural form.
Ansy has sold her work through many galleries and has been featured in exhibitions in Spalding Arts Centre, Eastbourne Library and The Stables, Eastbourne. Much of her work comes from private commissions. She has worked with Parklands Primary School to create a mural for their school wall.
Ansy also teaches singing in Christ’s Hospital, Horsham and Eastbourne College
